ABOUT THIS EVENT

More information about the event

Air and water pollution, increased waste, as well as extreme weather events, limited resources and ongoing climate change are all phenomena that are largely a consequence of how we shape our built environment. They should therefore determine the work of architects and architecture-related scientists. The search for the best solutions for shaping the built environment is the main theme of the conference, which will seek answers to the question:

When facing this dramatic climate change, how should we shape the functional and spatial tissue of the city, its public spaces, green system buildings and infrastructure using traditional and modern technologies?

The conference focuses on Sustainable development issues (UN Sustainable Development Goal 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities) and climate-responsible aspects of urban and architectural design, adaptation to the consequences of climate change, mitigation of these changes, issues of water retention, ventilation and air quality, use of renewable energy sources and low-carbon materials, and many other related issues. The conference will provide an opportunity for discussion, cooperation and exchange of experiences among scientists from different centers, representing various disciplines and research interests - architecture and urban planning, civil engineering, environmental protection, sanitary engineering and installations, landscape architecture and others. It seems inevitable, that in 2023 we should broaden the subject matter (in comparison to 2019), and to include issues that have become further design determinants over the past 3 years: the question of modelling our living environment in the era of pandemics, threat of a sudden and unexpected cutoff from conventional energy sources, refugee crises. All of them are more or less directly interconnected and should be analyzed together with climate issues. In addition, the conference organizers would like to emphasize the importance of universal design in design practice and research.
