Guidelines for preparing submissions

Guidelines for preparing the "Summary" for conference materials
(applies to participants with the paper and poster)
By September 15, 2019, editable files for the "Summary", please send to the conference address, i.e. conference.city-changes@pw.edu.pl

The Summary  should be structured like any other scientific publication. You should start with an introduction presenting the research or design problem undertaken against the background of the subject literature, the main research question, as well as the purpose of research and / or research hypotheses. The second part should contain concise information about the research material and methods used, as well as how to conduct the research or how to solve the design problem. The third part is to present the research results and conclusions. Please provide only the most important information in a summary form.

The Summary may contain drawings and tables. They should be placed before the reference list in the summary section. Signatures should be placed under the drawings; while the titles of the tables above the tables. The drawings will be printed in black and white, they should be prepared in grayscale.

The volume of the text with the list of references (up to 10 items) should not exceed 5 500 characters with spaces.

  • texts should be prepared in the form of an MS Word document, written in Times New Roman font, 12 points, with 1.5 spacing between lines
  •  illustrations should be attached and numbered in separate TIFF, JPG or PDF files (min. 300 dpi resolution, min. 1 MB file)

TABLES, DRAWINGS, DESIGNS AND PHOTOGRAPHS

  • The publication should include one illustration, which will be printed in black and white, be prepared in grayscale. The illustration can have dimensions: height 4 cm, width from 6 cm to 13 cm.
  •  Tables, drawings, formulas and photographs should be numbered as tables, drawings, formulas and photographs and attached to the work in separate files; signatures of tables, drawings and photographs are required; in the case of tables, it is also required to send their content.
  • Indicate in the text of the place where the tables, drawings, designs and photographs should be placed.
  • In the case of photographs of people, the statements of those persons agreeing to the publication of photographs should be attached.

 

GUIDELINES FOR PREPARING THE LIST OF REFERENCES

List of references should be numbered in the order they are cited in the text. The literature to which the author refers should be summarized at the end of the article as follows:

  • magazines - surname (s) and initials of the author (s), article title, magazine name,

volume, number, year of publication, page numbers;

  • books - surname (s) and initials of the author (s), book title, volume, publisher, place
    issues, year of issue;
  • standards - standard number, year of publication, title;
  • www - the exact address of the website to which the author (s) refers and the date of access.

Self-references should not exceed 20% of the literature list. If citing a doctoral dissertation or patent, provide the author's name, title of the thesis, name of the institution or company which the author represents, date and number of the patent.

 

GUIDELINES FOR PREPARING A PUBLICATION FOR A JOURNAL OR MONOGRAPH

By October 15, 2019, the authors will be individually informed to which publisher the text was addressed and where the full scientific texts will have to be uploaded.

Until October 25, 2019, texts and attachments should be uploaded to the appropriate publishing house or forwarded to the scientific editor of the monograph (to the conference email address).

 

The authors of materials sent for publication in a journal or monograph are responsible for compliance with copyright, i.e. the content of the article and graphic material should constitute the author's own output, otherwise the source and author must be provided (author's consent or confirmed information that photographs / graphics are free of copyright), they must be described in accordance with the principles of citation, with reference to the source of the citation (bibliography). The text for publication should bear the name, surname, affiliation and ORCID author number, title in Polish (up to 30 characters) and English, abstract in Polish (up to 600 characters) and abstract in English (up to 600 characters), keywords (up to 5 words), captions for illustrations and tables and the indicated type of scientific publication, list of references (up to 15).

The volume of the text with abstract and list of references (up to 15 items) should not exceed 20 000 characters with spaces.

 REQUIREMENTS FOR FORMATTING TEXT AND ILLUSTRATION MATERIALS

  • The texts should be prepared in the form of an MS Word document, written in Times New Roman font, 12 points, with an interval of 1.5 between lines, the text should indicate the places to which the illustrations refer; please also attach the article exported to a file in pdf file;
  • Illustrations should be attached and numbered in separate TIFF, JPG or PDF files (min. 300 dpi resolution, min. 1 MB file).

  • The publication can contain up to 4 illustrations that will be printed in black and white, they should be prepared in grayscale. The illustration can have dimensions: height 4 cm, width from 6 cm to 13 cm.
  • Tables, drawings, formulas and photographs should be numbered as tables, drawings, formulas and photographs and attached to the work in separate files; signatures of tables, drawings and photographs are required; in the case of tables, it is also required to send their content.
  • Indicate in the text of the place where the tables, drawings, designs and photographs should be placed;
  • In the case of photographs of persons, the statements of those persons agreeing to the publication of photographs should be attached.

 

 

GUIDELINES FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE ABSTRACT

The content of the abstract describes the content of the article, relevant information (required elements: purpose, methodology, results, conclusions) and contain the most important keywords. In addition, the title of the article should contain at least one such word. It is advisable to use sentences of a simple construction, without abbreviations (if necessary, they must be explained) and links to illustrations, tables and bibliography.

Guidelines for preparing the poster

By November 10, 2019, please send the poster files (editable version and PDF file),  to the conference address, i.e. conference.city-changes@pw.edu.pl. Files sent to this date will be printed by the Organizer. If the files are not sent by the date indicated, the Poster Author will print and deliver the poster himself on the day of the conference.

Layout file:

The poster should contain illustrations, diagrams or tables. They should be placed before the reference list in the summary section. Signatures should be placed under the drawings;

Poster in B1 format (70 cm x 100 cm) vertically, prepared according to the template, should contain the conference logo, title, author's details with affiliation and ORCID number. File description attached in the email and on the conference website.
