SUMMARY

 

In the field of Architecture and Urban Planning education is a complex process comprising not only a multi-disciplinary knowledge but also developing various talents and skills. The objective of this Intensive Programme is to develop students sensibility and ability of seeing the visual world. Those who are expected to design forms in their future professional life will experience through practice in a variety of ways of artistic expression phenomena of built and natural environment in its whole richness – exemplified by the historic town of Kazimierz Dolny located in the Vistula River valley in central Poland.

The aim of this Intensive Programme is to train students of Architecture of the second to fifth year. Targeted are students from all faculties of Architecture participating in the META -programme. Participating institutions are: Warsaw University of Technology, (PL) -coordinator, Hogeschool voor Wetenschap & Kunst (BE), Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (NL), Strathclyde University Glasgow (UK), Bauhaus University Weimar (DE), Università degli Studi Roma Tre (IT), Chalmers University of Technology (SE) and Ecole d'Architecture de Lille (FR).

Through a workshop with thorough supervised on site exercises, detailed case-studies, development and rendering of own works in studio followed up by reviews with professional guidance, students will gain thorough knowledge and skills to discover the complexity of urban and architectural spaces and their “genius loci”, develop understanding of natural landscape, and mutual relations between them and a human.
